Chuo kikuu cha Moi kilianzishwa mnamo mwaka wa 1984 kutokana na pendekezo la jopokazi lililoteuliwa na Mstaafu Rais Daniel arap Moi na kuongozwa na Dkt. Mackay, msomi kutoka Nchini Canada. Jopokazi hili liliandika waraka wa pendekezo kuhusu haja ya kuwa na Chuo kikuu cha pili Nchini Kenya. Ilikuwa sehemu ya ndoto ya Rais Mstaafu Moi kuwa na taasisi za elimu ya juu zikihamishwa kutoka maeneo ya mjini na ndio maana akaanzisha chuo kikuu cha Moi katika eneo la Kesses ambalo lipo kilomita 35 kutoka mji wa Eldoret. BUILDING MOI UNIVERSITY SEVENTH-DAY CHURCH.                   PEACE BE STILL. Peace is the existence of understanding characterized with good life.  Peace is not a mere existence of calmness and serenity; it is not a mere lack of war or open hatred amidst a people, it is a function of the love within portrayed in the life without. Even though the election campaigns in the university of Moi University are at the peak, there should be no signs of tension nor fearing behavioural.  Normal activities with total calmness are expected to go on.  As the aspiring candidates for different posts keep their fire burning they should be sensitive about other students inner peace and harmony.  As a nation, we have been through moments none would yearn to re-live for instance; more often we were relieved by the input of our good neighbours.  But for how long shall they be there to worry of the woes in their sister’s house?  Where will we land ourselves once they stop ...

BWAWA LA KESSES, TEGEMEO LA WENGI. Kwa miaka michache iliyopita kituo cha Kesses kimezidi kuwa kwa idadi ya watu,kutangamana kati yao kibiashara na hata kiteknolojia. Hii imepelekea uchumi kunawiri na hivyo basi kuboresha maisha ya wakaaji wa Kesses na hata majirani. Licha ya kuwa na haya maendeleo yote,ni jambo la kuvutia kwamba bwawa la Kesses ambalo lipo umbali wa kilomita saba kutoka kwa kituo hiki ndilo chanzo cha ukuaji wa vitu vyote hivi.
